Daniel has over 15 years of business and consulting experience working with for-profit and non-profit organizations to help them improve their mission impact.  He joined VeraCruz Advisory shortly after its founding in 2012, and works with a wide variety of clients throughout the US to provide financial, governance and strategic consulting services.  During this time clients have ranged from faith-based entities to real estate developers and SMEs, from colleges and universities to charter and private elementary and high schools, and from national organizations and foundations to smaller community-based non-profits.

Daniel leads the firm’s work of turning data into actionable client decision points by creating (or supervising) financial-operating models that produce forecasts/projections/budgets, data visualization, board-level dashboards and scenario analyses. Often interacting with executive teams and boards, his work product provides crucial strategic framing for key enterprise decisions and understanding outcomes and key performance indicators. Consulting engagements also include financial structuring and execution for the purchase and redevelopment of property, ground up construction financing, restructuring-refinancing existing debt and operating capital funding. Daniel also works to improve client governance and identify monetization opportunities from existing or new activities and enterprise models.

Prior to working with VeraCruz Advisory, Daniel was the senior analyst for a financial advisory boutique that focused on faith-based entities including Catholic dioceses, schools, and higher education institutions.  In that role, he performed project management and led the analysis and financial modeling on a wide variety of consulting and financing projects, and assisted in the structuring and execution of financial transactions.  In addition to his client facing roles, Dan was responsible for training analysts in financial modeling, statistical analysis, and other technical skills needed by many non-profit organizations.

Before working as a consultant, Dan worked in banking for a Michigan based bank, and served in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Sergeant in the 961st Engineering Battalion.  During military his service, he was deployed (2003-2005) with the 488th Engineering Battalion in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In his volunteer roles, Daniel helps the entities think through strategic issues and develop meaningful data for decision making.  Daniel currently serves on the finance committee of Mary’s Mantle (www.marysmantle.net), a housing provider for expectant mothers and on his parish finance council.

Dan obtained his M.B.A. from the University of Michigan in 2015 with high distinction and earned membership into Beta Gamma Sigma.  He also holds University of Michigan B.S. in Economics (2007).  While traveling nationally, he resides in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with his wife and children.
